Spotlight on Cultural Diversity – Special Welcome to Young Independent Filmmakers

Since its creation in 2011, DCCFF finds its roots in connecting cultures through cinema both as an art form and medium of independent thinking.  The Festival is determined to provide a global platform for Chinese-speaking filmmakers, films in the Chinese language, and films about Chinese-speaking cultures.  We encourage filmmakers to continue their original creations, and hope that, through their films recording the evolving arts, emotions and lives, the world can catch a different glimpse into our culture and appreciate it more.  Most importantly, we hope that DCCFF can help young filmmakers achieve the perfect balance between chasing their dreams and building their career.

This year, in adherence to the Festival’s mission, DCCFF is on a quest to discover more high-quality, memorable, and personal productions that will carry the voices of Chinese filmmakers further than ever before.

DCCFF, based in the capital of the United States, boasts of a prime location for inter-cultural dialogue.  In 2016, the Festival will focus on this characteristic and present our diverse collection of films to an even larger group of audience.

Taking the Festival to U.S. Theaters, Meeting More International Friends

For Festival screenings in 2016, DCCFF will collaborate with Landmark Theaters, the largest US theater chain to exhibit and market independent and foreign films.  It is our hope to keep all screenings to one central location, for the convenience of our filmmakers, guests and audience.

In addition to our Festival events, DCCFF will continue a working relationship with the Smithsonian Institution, the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States, and other organizations who share our goal in connecting cultures.  Through our US partners, we hope to reach more friends interested in Chinese cinema.

Along with the 2016 Festival screenings, DCCFF will facilitate a China-US film market platform, bringing together Chinese-speaking filmmakers and production and distribution companies from both countries.  The global collaborations that arise from this effort can be applicable to all steps of film productions, investment and distribution, and will promote the presence of Chinese films in the global market.
