Team: Programming

About the Position: We're looking for Programming Coordinators, responsible in coordinating all Judges (for first and final round of reviews) and Guests data, may have to collaborate with Marketing Committee, since both teams have contact lists running. Coordinate all panel topics planning, and have to make sure all materials are prepared and compiled --- including contact lists, proposal for sponsorship, timeline, and that we have Chinese and English versions of everything.

This position offers very flexible hours and opportunities to work and communicate with the DCCFF programming team. Programmers will watch film entries in both individual and collective environments. Please note this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, but you'll be treated as festival staff - meaning credit on festival website/print program, and unrestricted access to all festival events (including film screenings, panels, opening and closing parties and various networking happy hours). You'll have the pleasure to work with a diverse & fun group of people, plus opportunities to meet and mingle with filmmakers and festival guests. Internship Credit/OPT is available.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Business Development Manager 业务拓展经理

 

Team: Marketing

The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to prospect for 2016 DCCFF new clients/partners/sponsors by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential clients. Main job functions include but are not limited to plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential partners/sponsors to do business with the company; grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new solutions and services to clients. He/she may manage the activities of others responsible for developing business for DCCFF. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the company’s competitors. Start date is as soon as possible. Benefits: It’s an unpaid position. The BD gets to attend all festival events. Financial appreciation would be offered to all volunteers depending on the performance of the festival. You will also have chances to meet and work together with top Chinese directors, filmmakers, and scholars.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:1

  • New Business Development: prospect for potential new clients/partners/sponsors and turn this into increased business.
  • Meet potential partners/sponsors by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential partners/sponsors, and the decision makers within the partners/sponsors organization.
  • Research and build relationships with new partners/sponsors.
  • Plan approaches and pitches.
  • Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.

 

Client Retention

  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.

 

Education

Business development management positions require a bachelor’s degree and 2 years of sales or marketing experience. An MBA is preferred.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records and files for assigned fundraising tasks
  • Assist with the production of collateral materials related to fundraising programs and other fundraising or development activities
  • Perform all other duties and tasks required to support fundraising initiatives

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the field of not-for-profit fundraising is preferred but equivalent experience may be considered
  • Self-motivated, end-results oriented with a commitment to polished, timely and top class work
  • An effective communicator, both written and oral. Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • English as a first language or very high level of fluency.
  • Interest in Film and/or knowledge of Chinese culture and Mandarin is preferred

Videographer/Video Editor 摄像师与视频剪辑师

 

Team: Marketing

We're looking for a few video editors/videographers to work on our DCCFF videos. We have lots of videos incoming from film submissions and we need to edit video clips and make some short videos for our opening ceremony, closing ceremony, theme forums, festival commercials or other events. Please note this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, but you'll be treated as festival staff - meaning credit on the website/print program, and unrestricted access to all festival events (including film screenings, panels, opening and closing parties and various networking happy hours). You'll have the pleasure to work with a diverse group of talented & fun people, plus opportunities to meet and mingle with filmmakers and festival guests. This role is ideal for current student or recent graduates who is hoping to grow professionally and build his/her portfolio. Internship credit or OPT is available.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Edit video and audio clips.
  • Format clips and packages for use on DCCFF website.
  • Format clips and packages for distribution to the media and other users.

 

Qualifications:

  • Familiar with video editing tool.
  • You have a flexible schedule and able to meet deadlines (from now through the end of September)
  • An effective communicator, available to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work creatively, independently and as a team member
  • Having your own equipment is highly preferred

Graphic Designer 平面设计师

We're looking for Graphic Designers to help visually enhance our 2016 festival. This position offers flexible hours and opportunities to work and communicate with the team remotely using email, phone, Skype, Facebook and WeChat. You're also encouraged to attend staff meetings. Please note this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, but you'll be treated as festival staff - meaning credit on the website/print program, and unrestricted access to all festival events (including film screenings, panels, opening and closing parties and various networking happy hours). You'll have the pleasure to work with a diverse group of talented & fun people, plus opportunities to meet and mingle with filmmakers and festival guests. This role is ideal for current student or recent graduates who is hoping to grow professionally and build his/her portfolio. Internship credit or OPT is available.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Work with various teams to gather insight and effectively communicate the core values of DCCFF through design
  • Support our Marketing/PR/Fundraising efforts with strong and engaging visuals
  • Continually push the DCCFF aesthetic forward and always keep it unified across the board

 

Specifically, you'll be working on:

  • Design promotional materials - poster, events flyer, invitation, and email blast
  • Provide/edit images for our social media, press release, press package, print and digital ads
  • Help visually enhance the sponsorship package
  • Build reusable templates that are easy for non-designers to use/edit
  • Working with web team to make sure our website (image, format, fonts, layout, etc.) matches the overall aesthetic of the festival

 

Qualifications:

  • You studied graphic design or have professional experience with both print and interactive/web design
  • You're proficient with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • You have solid understanding of printing and production process
  • You have a flexible schedule and able to meet deadlines (expect at least 10 hours/week from now through August)
  • You have excellent communication skills, able to present your ideas to the team
  • You're a self-starter, and thrive in a high-energy environment

Team: Public Relations & Media

The News editor for DC Chinese Film Festival (DCCFF) will be responsible for generating all kinds of documents including press release, invitation letters in order to maintain existing relationship and developed new relationship with DDCFF media partners. This is a multi-task position; you should expect multiple tasks at the same time. Main job functions include but are not limited to: copy writing, reports writing, news briefing and execution. Hours: Days/hours are flexible but long-term commitment (through the end of September, 2016) is required. Start date is as soon as possible. Benefits: It’s an unpaid position. The Specialist gets to attend all festival events. Financial appreciation would be offered to all volunteers depending on the performance of the festival. You will also have chances to meet and work together with top Chinese directors, filmmakers, and scholars.

  • Drafting invitations and press releases, ensuring news releases and other materials are received on time
  • Planning future coverage of DCCFF events
  • Proposing and researching stories of DCCFF related affairs

Team: Public Relations & Media

The Public Relations & Media Team of DC Chinese Film Festival (DCCFF) is responsible for publicizing the DCCFF, engaging audiences and driving ticket sales through a wide variety of social media channels. In order to generate dynamic, engaging and relevant content for online social media platforms, DCCFF requires a specialist Social Media Editor to be responsible for the delivery and generation of this content in collaboration with the Marketing department and other DCCFF departments. The Social Media Editor is responsible for creating web-centric content to support the Marketing Team’s objectives, optimizing DCCFF’s digital channels. It is an unpaid position. Working hours are flexible. Financial appreciation would be offered to all volunteers depending on the performance of the festival. Internship credit or OPT is available.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Daily posts/tweets to all applicable social media outlets
  • Coordinating the marketing calendar with online activity and tracking social media influence measurements
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues and departments across DCCFF to share information, achieve deadlines and promote a positive working environment.
  • Partnering with other departments to ensure proper online messaging and to generate maximum impact of social media channels
  • Establishing a strong working relationship with the Marketing Department
  • Perform all other duties and tasks required to support media, marketing, and pubic relations works

 

Qualifications:

  • The individual needs to be proactive and responsive with a determination to drive interest and discourse across DCCFF social media platforms.
  • Experience and passion for social media communications technology and techniques is essential, an interest in film is of course important.
  • Long-term commitment (through the end of September, 2016) is a MUST. Self-motivated, end-results oriented with a commitment to polished, timely and top class work.
  • Significant knowledge of new and existing social media and web platforms are necessary.
  • Experience in creating engaging social media content for audience-focused organization or event is highly preferred.

The Specialist gets to attend all festival events. Financial appreciation would be offered to all volunteers depending on the performance of the festival. You will also have chances to meet and work together with top Chinese directors, filmmakers, and scholars.

  • Assisting with researching potential VIP filmmakers, including their achievement, schedules, quoted price or requirements, etc.
  • Conducting research for flight tickets, hotels, car rentals, etc.
  • Organizing statistics in spreadsheet, and updating the sheet regularly.
  • Maintaining relationships with existing guests, following up with them on a regular basis
  • Perform all other duties and tasks required to support programming and fundraising teams
